Americans for Children of the Middle East (ACME) is a non-profit tax-exempt public charity founded in the United States in 2010, with a primary mission to support university education for marginalized and refugee youth.
At ACME, we consider university education transformative; shaping individuals by imparting knowledge, fostering critical thinking, and promoting personal growth. It is more than the next level in the learning process; it is a critical component of human development. University education equips youth with the skills and credentials needed for successful careers, meaningful contributions to society, and better livelihoods. Youth from the refugee and vulnerable communities in Lebanon and the region, have limited access to university education, and most, if not all, cannot afford the financial obligations. ACME solicits funds and works with donors to ensure that deserving students have the financial support they need to pursue their higher education.
With this in mind, ACME devotes 100% of its resources to its partner organization Unite Lebanon Youth Project (ULYP), in particular to ULYP’s BRIDGE Program that supports youth’s journey in enrolling in and completing their tertiary education. In addition to preparing the students to sit for university entrance exams, including the Scholastic Assessment Test (SAT) and in parallel, empowering them to make informed decisions through comprehensive guidance and counseling sessions, BRIDGE helps excelling students living in the refugee camps and in impoverished communities with university scholarships and financial aid. The fundamental goal of the BRIDGE Program is to enhance the skills of the marginalized youth and increase their prospects towards a brighter future.
